This year’s annual tourism conference for the region explores the theme of connectivity as part of Scottish Tourism Week 2017.
A fascinating line up of industry speakers will share their thoughts and experiences about how to work together and connect with the visitor.
It’s an exciting time for tourism in our region and Fiona Cook, Tourism Team Leader from The Scottish Government, will provide an insight into the potential impact these developments will have on the area.
The 500 mile round trip coastal touring route, North Coast 500 is an inspiring example of businesses working together to raise awareness of the North Highlands as a visitor destination. CEO, Tom Campbell will share the story of their journey and the challenges and successes along the way.
Tom will be joined by Douglas Gibson, Project Coordinator for the Wester Ross Tourism Group, who will outline the impact the North Coast 500 has had on local businesses.
The east of Scotland has a strong visitor proposition and neighbouring local authorities are working together, along with the V&A Museum of Design Dundee to showcase the region as an exciting destination.
Find out about the work undertaken to date with design agency, Whitespace, to develop a narrative for the region and how this will be used to inform a destination marketing campaign to encourage more people to visit the east of Scotland.
Malcolm Roughead, Chief Executive of VisitScotland, will explore the visitor journey, and the importance of embracing new technology, innovation and new ways of working to compete in a competitive global market.
Stephen Whitelaw, Digital Marketing Consultant and Social Media Evangelist, will provide an energetic and interactive presentation focusing on "The Future of the Web". Stephen will outline some real-life case studies and reveal some of the up to date tricks and techniques that will save you time and money enabling you to stay relevant in the 21st century.
There will also be an opportunity to take part in a Rip+Mix idea generation workshop with Open Change, a service design and innovation agency, which enables everyone to think creatively about developing new business ideas.
Continuing down the digital theme for the afternoon, VisitScotland’s Industry Relationship Managers will be on hand, providing digital surgeries, tailored to suit your business sector, level of knowledge and region.
