Following the outstanding success of our last event in May, Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce are delighted to announce the second Network Business Forum on Thursday 23rd August at Piper Dam Golf & Leisure Resort, Fowlis, Dundee from 8.30am till 12 noon. This is the event for you if you want to:-

You can have literature, hand-outs - whatever you want on the table - even a pop up banner placed behind it! At approximately 15 minute intervals the networking participants will move table but you will stay at your table. During each session you will have up to 5 minutes to promote your business and also award a prize of your choosing (maximum value £1.00 per prize so let your imagination run riot!) to the best "Market Pitch" at each session. This is an exciting and innovative way to promote your business to a captive audience at least SIX times. There are a maximum of 7 tables - £50 for members only. You must provide the £1.00 prizes as well.

Network and Breakfast The Forum starts at 8.30am with an hour for registration, breakfast rolls, tea and coffee and informal networking. At 9.30 the Round Table networking will start with the opportunity to present your "Market Pitch" to up to 60 business contacts over lively facilitated sessions - and there are prizes for the best pitches. Each "Market Pitch" should be no longer than 1 minute - so polish those presentations now as there are prizes to be won throughout the morning! EXPORTING TO IRELAND ROADSHOWS

Business Gateway InternationalIreland is now ranked among the top 5 fastest growing economies in the world with growth rates in GDP of close to 10% over the last 10 years. Ireland is becoming widely known around the globe as ‘The Celtic Tiger’. This huge economic growth has created significant opportunities for Scottish companies in Ireland.

Business Gateway International are responding to this opportunity by offering companies an opportunity to attend a free event which will highlight the opportunities and give practical advice on exporting to the Irish market.  This programme is being introduced to all businesses in Scotland in the format of a ‘Roadshow’ covering 4 venues – Aberdeen, Dundee, Stirling and Edinburgh from 18 September – 21 September. Project ARGUS - Protecting Against Terrorism

What is Project Argus?
acposProject ARGUS is a National Counter Terrorism Security Office initiative, exploring ways to aid businesses to prevent, handle and recover from a terrorist attack. It is designed for Retail Managers with a responsibility for or an interest in Security and/or Business Continuity.

It is a completely free event which will take you through a realistic terrorist attack using a multi-media simulation. Dundee City CouncilA series of challenges and questions will be put to you as an individual and in a syndicate group which you will have to resolve.

The whole event including coffee will last three hours. Just prior to this a buffet lunch will be available.

The event will take place on Tuesday 25 September 2007 between 1pm and 4pm at the Maryatt Hall Dundee. (Buffet lunch from 12.30 pm)

ROYAL NAVY PRESENTATION TEAM VISIT DUNDEE

The RNPT travels all over the UK talking to a wide cross section of the community: business, industry, education, charities, local government, media and youth groups.

Using a 35 minute multimedia presentation, RNPT describe the role of today's modern Navy, its people, equipment and plans for the future. There is an opportunity to socialize before and after the presentation with refreshments available. The aim is to convince the general public that their Royal Navy offers good value for money and that their taxes are being spent wisely.

The RNPT are due to visit Dundee on Tuesday 25 September 2007, for an evening presentation at the Apex City Hotel, West Victoria Dock, Dundee. The Euro Info Centre - Business Gateway is involved in the promotion of a transnational match-making event for companies from the engineering and metal- working sectors

Interprise IND-TECH III 2007 will take place on 18 - 19 October at the Scandinavian Technical Fair, Stockholm, Sweden. Interprise is a contact business meeting covering a specially selected area of business to promote co-operation between small and medium-sized companies and organisations. Between 120 and 150 companies from twelve European countries are expected to participate. Companies from China, India and Russia are also expected to participate.

All those participating in IND-TECH III 2007 share one thing in common, the desire to broaden their contact network and to find new partners for technical as well as commercial purposes. IND-TECH III 2007 provides a unique opportunity for you to find new business contacts. Interprise IND-TECH III 2007 will run parallel to the Scandinavian Technical Fair. which will focus on industrial technology and production. Two months after new laws concerning company directors’ legal duties came into force, a survey of company directors in Tayside and Fife has shown that only a third of them are confident that they understand what the new law expects of them. Fewer than 50% felt that the information available to them was adequate. Blackadders Solicitors are to run the above seminar to help address this problem.

You will be able to showcase your business to EVERY SINGLE PARTICIPANT. There are three opportunities to take part in a morning of informal networking which has been proven time and time again to increase business:

Network Table Sponsor & Breakfast.  Host a table seating up to nine different contacts per 15 minute session. They move, you don't!!  You can have literature, hand-outs, even a pop-up banner behind the table!

During each session, you will have up to 5 minutes to 'sell' your business whilst the 'contacts' have 1 minute each. This is a proven way to promote your business to a captive audience. All this for £75+vat for members. Not available to non members.

Table Top Stand. Breakfast, network and exhibit your company. Take part in the round table networking sessions making your 1 minute pitch whilst your promotional material is available on stands and banners around the room. Maximum of 12 tables available. £50+vat for members, £75+vat non-members.

Network & Breakfast.  The forum starts at 0830 with an hour for registration, bacon butties, tea/coffee and informal networking. At 0930 sharp, the Round Table networking begins with the opportunity to present your 'pitch'. After 15 minutes, you will move to a different table and begin the process again. As the presentation is no longer than 60 seconds, start practising NOW to make sure you get the right message across.

The event will finish at 11.30 with time to informally chat with any of the participants.

Solar Cities Scotland and Dundee College have organised a half day event focussing on opportunities for those interested in becoming installers of micro-renewable energy technologies such as solar thermal systems, heat pumps and biomass boilers. It will also be of interest to client organisations and those with an economic development/skills training remit. It will give an overview of opportunities and training available. It includes speakers from industry and trades bodies. Tours of Dundee College's Renewable Energy Training Centre will be available to interested parties.
