‘Edge @ Verdant Works\'is a new contemporary textile exhibition from Edge Textiles now on display in the social history gallery. Showcasing work from around 20 different artists, this exhibition features contemporary pieces in a variety of different mediums, inspired by the jute industry, its legacy on the city and Verdant Works itself.

Edge Textiles are a collective of artists from Edinburgh, Dundee and Glasgow who aim to promote excellence in all aspects of contemporary textiles and through their exhibitions, held nation-wide, the artists of the group reach a wide audience. The strength of the work produced by the members lies in the technical expertise, diversity of subject and the approach to design.  They held their inaugural exhibition in Dundee in 2000 at McManus Galleries and are delighted to return with a new body of work focused on jute and its impact on the city of Dundee.

Curator Louisa Attaheri says ‘We are thrilled to be able to showcase the work of Edge Textiles here at Verdant Works. I hope this exhibition can show that jute, traditionally known for its durability in items such as sacks can also be used as a focus to create exciting contemporary artwork.\'
