A reminder from Walker Dunnett that, from 1st April 2012, all VAT registered businesses must submit VAT returns online and pay any VAT due electronically. This means that paper VAT returns will no longer be issued to traders. Walker Dunnett recommend that any VAT registered businesses still lodging VAT returns under the paper return method now register with HMRC for the online service. Make sure you do it in plenty of time, as the system does take time to register and to obtain the information required to lodge returns online. Visit HMRC's website for more information.
