Number Partners Project

Number Partners is an innovative volunteering scheme which promotes the enjoyment of maths amongst children in primary and secondary schools through the use of child-friendly games and puzzles.  The scheme brings together business volunteers (who act as the Number Partner) and schools in order to support children develop both their ability and confidence with numbers and their self-esteem and communication skills.

Scottish Business in the Community in partnership with Learning and Teaching Scotland are runningNumber Games a pilot Number Partners programme in Scotland during 2005/06.  One of the areas chosen to pilot the scheme was Angus and recognising the nature of the business community, it was decided to modify the support model to include parents, senior secondary pupils and local organisations as potential partners.

Following on from a successful pilot, it is intended to roll out Number Partners to another 13 schools where 300 – 500 schoolchildren will benefit from input with 100 – 150 business volunteers.
