Incredible Dundee Science Centre Team

Monday, we dedicate the day to staff training.

We have some external trainers from Ondata Research on site to deliver a session for our whole team on evaluation. We have collected a lot of audience data since reopening as it's really important that we understand how to analyse the data and listen to what our visitors are telling us. This helps us adapt and grow building on the positives.

We finished off our training session with a DSC-wide team lunch and time to just sit back, relax and catch up with each other, it's been a busy summer and it's good to take time and reconnect.

Meeting with our Wellcome Trust Mentor

A big day for us today, alongside my colleague Rebecca - Head of Development, we are finally able to meet our Wellcome Trust Mentor face to face and show her around our completed new exhibitions and facilities.

Before I can take her on a tour of the Centre, I need to come up with a quick plan as we welcome visitors at 10am and the Centre has lost all internet connections due to cable service tunnels being flooded during the heavy rainfall.

Plan in place, we proudly showcase our exhibition including the impressive Water Works feature complete with a giant Archimedes screw as pictured, the Centre has been transformed to create a truly innovative learning enviroment. The new accessible facilities include our Sensory Zone, changing places toilet and outside spaces designed to make everyone feel welcome.

Marketing for Festivals

A big part of the redevelopment of the Centre was focusing on our colour palette and ensuring that it was just as recognisable, whilst being accessible for all our varied audiences.

Here I am inspecting the new event gazebo ready for Energy Festival at the weekend! As always, it's a team effort at the Science Centre and many people have a hand in making this happen from the team researching colours with our assistend needs advisory panel to the facilities team responsible for the set up.

Can't wait to see the set up and experience a fun filled day at Scone Palace - Energy Festival.

STEM Summer Club

We introduced STEM Summer Clubs this year and I was lucky enough to spend some time with these incredible youngsters.

The Club Team: James, Alanna and Sarah put me in charge of 1 to 1 engagement when some of the kids needed a wee break from all the fun activities. Together we learnt how to use our new badge ID printer, created new badges for the DSC team and our STEM Club Super Stars.

I was very popular member of the team, but I do wonder if having a box of chocolates at my desk swayed the kids in wanting to spend some time with me do jobs....

Overall a brilliant bunch of youngsters and I have no doubt we have a few STEM Super Stars in the making!

Energy Festival - Inspire Zone led by Dundee Science Centre

Probably the best part of my job is the fact that more often than not my family are part of the work I do. Here we are pictured at Energy Festival exploring some of the exhibitors in the Inspire Zone.

Dundee Science Centre led the organisation of the Inspire Zone with lots of fun and exciting activities from exploding volcanoes, catapults to snow workshops.

Very pleased to be part of this new and exciting festival reconnecting people in a safe and fun enviroment!
