Menu Tasting for Angus Grill + Larder

This week is a busy week for CAM as we are in the final stages of the pre-opening phase of our new cafe grill near Brechin.

Today has been spent with the team up at AG+L doing a full cook-off of the new menu.  The aim was to make sure the chefs were comfortable with everything and the front of house team were able to try everything so they could pick their favourites to recommend to diners.

The feedback was great from the team, and the contractors on site, so it brings us a step closer and ticks something else of the list.

The Catch Up Day

Tuesday was spent at the home office catching up on the admin after a busy week back after the new year.

I had a good call with our solicitor to discuss some of the devlopments for the first half of 2022.  Negotiating the lease for a Dundee city centre property for our new male grooming concept and restructuring some leasing arrangements for two exisiting sites in Angus.   Also continued some work for a hotel client in Stoke-on-Trent, supporting them in re-positioning their food and beverage product.

The Final Touches Continue

Today was back up to AG+L for a long day of tweaking and finishing things.  One of the main things that attracted me to hospitality 20 years ago was the variety.  Today was no different; EPOS set up, fire safety confirmed, toilet flooring and car park cleaned.

The day ended with the most fantastic sunset, that obviosuly the camera couldn't capture!

Another Mixed Bag

Another day of variety today, starting up at AG+L to organise the last day of works in the premises and discuss the last requirements before the soft launch.  Then it was up to Aberdeen to look at a potential new premises for a future venture, not sure we will go for it but always nice get up there.  The day ended by heading over to Carnoustie area to check process on a distillery project of one of our sister companies.

That's a Wrap

Today was the final day getting AG+L ready for opening.  A few tweaks, and some trials with friends and family, over the weekend and then we open on Monday.  Our initial plan was to spend a small budget and have it operating as quickly as possible, but as we got into the project the direction changed to "if we're going to do it, lets do it right".  I am very glad we did, I think we have created a concept that really raises the bar of roadside cafes. I look forward to seeing how the public reacts next week.
