In Your Shoes - Gemma Stewart

Hello, my name’s Gemma and I work as part of the Communications Team, being responsible for developing and marketing the Dundee Carers Charter.

Working with individuals, businesses and organisations across all sectors to promote sign up and involvement in the Charter, along with targeted work with employers to identify carers in the workplace.

Carers of Dundee is an online information platform for unpaid carers, families and the workforce living or working in Dundee.

A growing network of local services and businesses in Dundee have signed up to our Carers Charter.

By signing up you can gain access to valuable resources and information to help you to help carers.

Wednesday - DVVA Event

Being part-time I start my working week on a Wednesday. Once I have checked my emails, I like to try organise my week – forever writing to do lists!

I was working in the office today and covering reception in the AM. In the afternoon I had a networking event with DVVA, and hearing about upcoming strategies in the North East of Dundee. We met at the new Mill O’ Mains Community Hub which is a lovely, fresh building and wonderful place for meetings.

I finished the day with an exercise class, which in the heat was a bit of a struggle, but I always feel great and re-energised after it.

Thursday - Carers charter

Since starting at the role in March 2022, I have been hybrid working. We have a weekly comms team meeting which is usually on Microsoft Teams. Always fun hearing what the rest of the team have been up to and getting a catch up with them.

We have just refreshed our charter webpage and have new promotional material to send out to businesses and organisations that have signed up to the Carers Charter. So was I was busy organising this the rest of the day, along with creating content for our social media.

Friday - Overgate Visit

The Overgate have recently signed up to be part of the Carers Charter. I popped into see them and hand in some literature for them to display – keep your eyes peeled next time you visit.

I couldn’t not visit, the Archie & Oor Wullie Bucket Bash exhibition, whilst in the Overgate which is fantastic as always.

Then I visited some businesses to discuss the Carers Charter, it’s so nice getting to meet people face to face.

I try to finish up any pending jobs so I can get that Friday feeling and enjoy my weekend!
