In Your Shoes - Stewart Brand

Hi I'm Stewart from Tay Country Travel

Hope you enjoy reading my blog entry.

Monday

Busy day ahead as the rest of the players arrive at Troon from the Genesis Scottish Open, won dramatically by Scotlands Robert Macintyre.

The day starts with a message asking me to pop to IKEA for 350 wooden coat hangers.

As the day progresses we pick up other requests, phone charging cables, hand towels, ladies deodorant, notebooks and power adaptors, along with some guest transfers.

Alongside working at Troon, I keep an eye on the day job, although I'm fortunate to have my daughter Steph dealing with things in my absence.

With drivers in Oban, Carnoustie, Skye and Braemar today, we have to be ready to respond to any issues that may arise. I'm delighted Steph is there to cover. Steph joined the company back in November after several years working overseas and in London. She's made a big difference to the business and it's great having her back in Dundee.

Tuesday

Everyone playing in the Open has finally arrived, loads of famous faces and golf legends milling around making their final preparations for the kick off on Thursday.

Back home, one of our drivers has an unwell passenger on his bus complaining of stomach pains, so a quick trip to A&E is in order.

What looked like a potential ruptured stomach ulcer turned out to be trapped wind!

This is the 5th time in two years Billy has had to take someone to A&E.

No one else has ever had to do this, Billy is now known as Dr Death.

The guest was taken back to the hotel where his friends were waiting to tease him. One final errand then back to the hotel to watch Dundee v Arbroath and a couple of beers with the team.

Wednesday

Tour day today, as part of the services CR2 Sport offer to Open VIPs, we toured Glasgow. Turns out my five South Africans liked castles, football and beer so it was Dundonald Castle, Celtic Park, Hampden the Glasgow city centre for lunch and beers.

Meanwhile in the day job, Neil is on the ferry from Ullapool, Billy is in Nairn, Ged is on Skye and Tony is at Ben Nevis, think that covers a fair chunk of Scotland.

Thursday

First day of the championship and it took a fair bit longer to get here due to the heavy traffic.

Another tour today, a golfers wife, nanny and kids off to the Glasgow Science centre then to Luss on the shores of Loch Lomond, they loved it and will possibly do another tour if hubby doesn't make the cut (he didn't).

Busy times in the day job, another two Tours starting, one golf, one sightseeing.

Also, a catch up with our biggest client who booked us for the company fam trip in November staying in Cameron House, Isles of Eriska and the Fife Arms in Braemar (Google them), think I might have to put myself on that job. ????

Friday

Another good morning as the players arrive for day two.

Today is cut day when the field is reduced from 157 to 70 and ties.

Lots of famous names heading home including Tiger who looked to be struggling, I really hope he gets healthy again.

Back home the V Class is in for it's service and gets a clean bill of health.

Time to clean the bus, fill the fridge and check in with the team based in the Players Clubhouse.

Tony calls from Glencoe looking for advice on a lunch spot.

Then it's off to Glasgow Central railway station with a guest before meeting the boys for pizza and a beer.

Two days to go of what's been a really enjoyable, busy and interesting week.
