In Your Shoes - Lana Hall

Hi, I’m Lana Hall, and I’m the Business Development and Marketing Manager at KR Group Scotland – a leading construction and engineering company specialising in steel, cladding, sheet metal, and tailored project solutions.

Based in Newburgh, Aberdeenshire, our team operates across Scotland, and the UK, delivering high-quality work for clients in sectors such as energy, agriculture, construction, food and drink, commercial, and the public sector. We're proud to serve customers in Dundee and surrounding areas.

No two days in my role are the same – and that’s exactly what I love about it. One moment I’m curating content for our social media platforms, and the next I’m out on-site arranging signage and building relationships with clients. It's a fast-paced, varied role that keeps me on my toes and always thinking ahead.

Kicking off the week with planning and content creation

Started the week with a quick team meeting – a catch-up to align on our priorities and workload for the days ahead.

I then dived into planning our upcoming content calendar, pulling together project updates and visuals from a recent steel installation we completed for a renewable energy client.

Our work really does speak for itself, but part of my role is making sure it’s shared with the right people, in the right way, at the right time.

Out and about, connecting with clients and site teams

Out on site today with our Operations Manager, Lyndsay Merson, visiting a high-profile development in Aberdeen city centre. We’re currently fabricating and installing structural steel as part of the area’s regeneration works.

I always enjoy getting out on site – it’s a chance to connect with our team on the ground, meet clients face-to-face, and see our craftsmanship in action. The sunshine helped too!

Also spent time today coordinating with the client on site signage, checking dimensions and placement to make sure everything aligns with our brand.

Website updates and a rooftop meeting

Started the day with a coffee and some time spent updating the steel and sheet metal sections of our website.

KR Group recently invested in a series of major upgrades to our workshops – including the addition of advanced robotic technology. For our clients, that means we can deliver higher volumes of fabrication work, more efficiently and cost-effectively, while freeing up our expert fabricators to focus on more bespoke, specialist jobs.

In the afternoon, the senior management team gathered for our quarterly meeting to review performance and map out priorities for the months ahead. It was such a beautiful day that we took the opportunity to hold the meeting up in our rooftop garden – a pretty special spot to reflect and refocus, complete with a Diet Coke in hand!

Brand development and case studies

Today I was focused on refining some new marketing materials and evolving our brand messaging – especially around our mission, vision, and values. At KR Group, we’re proud to be a people-first business that champions innovation, operates with integrity, and delivers reliable solutions across sectors.

I also worked on a case study from a recent agricultural project, where our combined steel, cladding, and sheet metal work significantly boosted the client’s operational efficiency – a great example of how we bring technical expertise and value together.

Day off in the sunshine with the kids

Today was my day off! I work a four-day week to help balance work and family life – I’m a mum to three wonderful kids aged 11, 9, and 3. After taxiing one of my daughters to her summer gymnastics camp, I took the younger two to a local play park and met up with a friend for a catch-up. A lovely end to the week!
