In Your Shoes - Cami Rose Alexander

As the founder of Happy Human Training, I spend my time helping organisations create environments where their people can really thrive; places where curiosity, compassion and clarity drive both wellbeing and performance. Some days that means coaching or facilitating, others its mentoring, recording or designing programmes that make psychology and neuroscience practical for everyday life. Our work takes me all over the UK, but this week I'm staying local - which makes a nice change. Welcome to a week with Happy Human.

Monday

The week begins with one of my favourite things; connection and curiosity.

I start the morning preparing for and delivering the second session of Your Brilliant Brain And The Wild World of Work - our new live series designed to make neuroscience not only accessible, but joyfully practical. Today’s focus is introducing the “chimp” brain and exploring how our limbic system shapes our reactions at work.

Afterwards, I switch hats for a couple of one-to-one coaching sessions. These are such special moments in my week; helping people unlock small shifts that make a big difference to how they feel, lead, and live.

Tuesday

Today’s about conversations and collaboration.

I begin with a chat with a small business owner about designing a six-month development programme for their team; bite-sized monthly modules supported by individual coaching. It’s a format that works beautifully, giving people time to apply ideas between sessions while keeping momentum alive.

Later, I step into my mentoring role as part of the AccelerateHER programme through Barclays Eagle Labs - supporting inspiring female founders as they grow and evolve their businesses. I always leave these sessions so excited by the energy of new ideas and bold steps into the unknown.

Wednesday

Today it’s me, my microphone, and a slightly temperamental Wi-Fi connection.

Recording new content for the on-demand version of Your Brilliant Brain means plenty of retakes, a few muttered words about buffering, and the occasional cup of tea for morale.

Between takes, I connect with a prospective client to explore one-to-one support options; it's always fascinating to hear where people are on their personal development journey. Then, it’s time to prep for tomorrow’s workshop: final tweaks, quiet reflection, and that small fizz of anticipation that never quite goes away, no matter how many times you’ve done it.

Thursday

Workshop day - my favourite kind.

Today I’m working in person with a fabulous small business that’s investing in its future leaders. The session is designed for team members who are starting to think about stepping into more senior roles over the next year.

We explore the shift from being an individual contributor to leading others; what changes, what stays the same, and how communication, relationships, and team dynamics evolve. It’s a conversational, practical session that lays strong foundations for what’s to come. There’s laughter, lightbulb moments, and plenty of honest discussion - just how I like it.

Friday

A different, and most precious, kind of work.

Fridays are for my grandsons. For play, imagination, muddy boots, and small adventures. For snacks, stories, and endless questions. It’s my way of supporting my daughter and son-in-law as they balance work and family life and, truth be told, it’s one of the most grounding and joyful parts of my week.

There’s something about spending time with little ones that puts everything else in perspective. They remind me to notice small things, to stay curious, and to approach the world with a sense of wonder, qualities that serve me just as well in work as they do in life.
