My name is Iryna Yukhymchuk, and I’m a Business Development Manager at Master Finish UK, a family-run company specialising in premium-quality interior and exterior refurbishments. Special Monday

This Monday was special as it was our wedding anniversary, so instead of my usual start to the week we took the day off and spent it at the Carnoustie Golf Spa. It’s become our little tradition to pause, unwind, and remind ourselves why we do what we do.

On a regular Monday, though, things look quite different. My day usually starts early, sometimes even on Sunday evening with reviewing all ongoing projects and confirming times with clients. I like to make sure everything is still in place, that there haven’t been any last-minute changes, and that our premium materials are ready for the week ahead. A few minutes spent double-checking now can prevent hours of stress later!

I also take time to look at the bigger picture: what’s progressing well, what needs adjusting, and what marketing steps might help us attract new clients or show our latest work. Mondays are all about clarity and preparation, setting a strong foundation for the week.

And if all goes smoothly, I like to reward myself with a short walk along the Arbroath cliffs. It’s one of my favourite ways to clear my head and start the week feeling grounded and inspired.

Tuesday – Collaboration & Smart Solutions

This Tuesday built on the momentum from last week’s networking events, the Scottish Property Podcast and Strategic Funding for Growth in Glasgow. We had a series of productive follow-up meetings with property investors, developers, realtors, and construction partners.

Each meeting was unique, centered around finding the right solution for each business, whether it was improving efficiency, quality, or long-term project outcomes.

We explored:

- Mechanised skimming, which allows faster and smoother finishes on large-scale projects.

- Reinforcement of older walls with high-performance compounds and fiberglass mesh to prevent cracks from reappearing.

- Stretch ceilings, installed within a single day, a time-efficient, modern solution developers value for both practicality and design.

As the construction and property industries evolve, we are constantly exploring, testing, and adapting new technologies, to move in step with the market and help our partners achieve faster, higher-quality, and more durable results.

Wednesday - Marketing and Client Engagement

This Wednesday was dedicated to marketing and staying connected with our clients. The morning was focused on preparing and sharing content across all platforms, including visual materials, posts, and strategic campaigns to showcase our latest projects. I was also planning promotions and ensuring consistency across social channels, all part of keeping our work visible and relevant.

Meanwhile, on-site work continued as scheduled, with plastering, skimming, and painting, ensuring projects progressed smoothly. In the evening, we visited new properties to discuss project scopes and upcoming work with clients.

I had originally planned to attend a Chamber of Commerce event as well, but a sudden earache for my child required me to switch to my Plan B, which I always have ready because in business, adaptability is key.

Throughout the day, I stayed in close contact with clients, gathering feedback and confirming satisfaction. Keeping this connection strong is essential as it ensures high-quality results and builds long-term trust.

Wednesdays remind me that effective marketing, clear communication, and hands-on project management work best together. This combination keeps our standards high, our clients supported, and every project moving forward efficiently.

Thursday – Concept-to-Reality

Thursdays often combine organisation, technical precision, and meaningful client engagement.

The morning began with planning and procurement, preparing invoices, reviewing budgets, and sourcing premium materials for upcoming projects. Midday was dedicated to on-site reviews, where we finalised plastering, Ames taping, and painting works, ensuring every surface met our quality standards.

One of the key highlights was a meeting with a new client about their barbershop interior project. Together, we discussed the choice of materials, project timelines, work sequence, and finishing details, everything needed to deliver a space that feels both stylish and durable.

We also hosted a short demonstration of our mechanised plastering system for construction partners. These technologies help achieve smoother finishes faster, saving time while maintaining the high precision our clients expect.

Friday - Wrap-Up

Today I’m taking a moment to step back, review this week, and plan what comes next. This Friday has been about bringing clarity and order before the new week begins.

I’m reviewing our active projects, checking that all materials are prepared, and confirming upcoming schedules to make sure every stage moves forward without delays.

I’m also going through recent client feedback, staying connected and understanding what matters to our clients helps me refine our processes. Every conversation strengthens the way we work and reinforces the premium standards of quality and reliability we aim to deliver.

A well-structured Friday like this sets a solid foundation for an efficient and productive week ahead.
