In Your Shoes - Claire Anderson

As Charity Manager for Cash for Kids Tayside & Fife, I lead the charity’s mission to support disadvantaged children and young people across the region. Having worked with the organisation for over eight years, I’ve developed a deep understanding of local needs and built strong partnerships with businesses, community groups, and individuals to maximise our impact. My role involves overseeing all aspects of fundraising, campaign delivery, and grant distribution, ensuring every pound raised directly benefits children who need it most. I take pride in engaging supporters to create meaningful, lasting change. From coordinating flagship appeals to managing community outreach, I’m passionate about connecting generosity with purpose and helping young people thrive. I believe every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of their circumstances.

Monday

Started the week with a great team meeting — the perfect way to get organised, share updates, and plan for the busy days ahead. We talked about our priorities for the week, how we can support each other, and how to keep everything running smoothly as we head into one of our most exciting times of the year.

We’re especially thrilled to welcome a new member to the team this week, who will be helping us with Mission Christmas. Lisa will be our warehouse co-ordinator, ensuring we’ll be able to reach hundreds of local families and make sure every child wakes up to a special gift on Christmas morning.

It’s always inspiring to see the energy, teamwork, and dedication that goes into making Mission Christmas happen — and this week’s meeting reminded me just how proud I am of our team. Here’s to a busy, positive, and purposeful week ahead!

Tuesday

We spent the day at Mission HQ getting everything ready for the weeks ahead. It’s amazing to see the space starting to take shape — the team came together to plan how we want it to look and feel, making sure it’s ready for the busy Mission Christmas season.

Posters are up, the printer has arrived, and desks are all set — it’s really starting to feel real now! There’s something special about seeing the space transform and imagining all the gifts, volunteers, and festive energy that will soon fill it.

Days like this remind me how much teamwork and preparation goes into making Mission Christmas a success. We’re proud of what we achieved today and can’t wait to see the HQ come fully to life. The countdown to Mission Christmas is officially on — and we’re ready to make magic happen!

Wednesday

Today was a great chance to catch up on some all-important admin, reflect on the week so far, and make sure everything’s going according to plan. I also spent some time with Lisa, taking her through training and helping her get up to speed — she’s settling in brilliantly and already making a difference as we gear up for Mission Christmas.

I also had an MCR Pathways mentoring session, which is always such a rewarding part of my week. It’s amazing to see the progress my mentee makes from one session to the next — those weekly conversations really do build confidence and trust over time, and I look forward to those sessions as much as I hope they do too!

Taking a step back today reminded me how valuable it is to balance busy project work with reflection, learning, and connection. Feeling grateful for a productive and meaningful day that left me both organised and inspired for what’s ahead.

Thursday

Started the day with a brilliant team meeting, this time catching up with the other Charity Managers across the East of Scotland. It’s always great to connect, share ideas, and discuss how we can best support each other to manage the Mission Christmas campaign. Everyone shared their insights and creative ways to make the campaign run smoothly — lots of collaboration and passion for making a difference in our local communities.

After a busy day of planning and sharing ideas, I rounded things off with something a little different — the Parent Council bingo fundraiser at my child’s school. It was such a fun evening, bringing the school community together and raising over £900 which was fantastic!

A full day of teamwork, community spirit, and a few laughs along the way.

Friday

We’ve reached the end of another busy week, and it’s been a great one. I’ve spent some time reflecting on everything we’ve achieved and making sure my to-do list is ready for the week ahead — there’s lots of excitement building as Mission Christmas draws closer.

A highlight of the day was visiting Dunelm in Dundee to collect a fantastic selection of gifts for Mission Christmas. The generosity and community spirit shown by supporters never fails to amaze me — every donation truly helps make Christmas special for local children who might otherwise go without.

After work, I’m off to the gym for a bit of downtime, then looking forward to a relaxing weekend with family before the big launch next week.

It’s such a rewarding time of year, and we’d love for more people to get involved — please get in touch if you’d like to support Mission Christmas!
