In Your Shoes - Heather Whyte

In 2025, she was promoted to Events & Marketing Lead, where she continues to deliver engaging events and creative campaigns. Outside of work, Heather is an avid baker and a devoted fan of The Great British Bake Off , always on the lookout for inpiration for her next bake.

Monday

The week kicked off with some team training. We’ve recently introduced a new office management system, so James led us through the ins and outs to make sure we’re all confident and ready to share it with our members.

At 11am, Jamie and Donna from Quensh Specialists delivered our March Member Masterclass. They covered the importance of looking after your people, as well as ensuring your health and safety procedures are up to date and legally compliant. I always enjoy these events as they’re a great opportunity for members to share their expertise with the wider Chamber community, and we often get to explore more niche topics, which makes them all the more interesting.

Tuesday

Tuesday was dedicated to content and social media. I spent most of the day filming and editing videos for our new “What is..?” campaign, breaking down all of the things the Chamber does into clear, engaging, and easy to share videos.

In between editing sessions, I received confirmation from Dundee Rugby Club that we’d be able to host the first instalment of our new “Open to All” series with them in May, so I built the event for our website and scheduled an email to be sent to our members later in the week. I’m really excited to see how this event is received as we’ve had lots of request for less formal networking events! If you’re a Chamber member, you can book a free space for the event here.

Wednesday

Wednesday began with a series of smaller but important admin tasks and follow-ups, including checking in on upcoming event plans, confirming speakers and venues.

In the evening, I was lucky enough to attend the opening night of V&A Dundee’s Catwalk: The Art of the Fashion Show, thanks to an invite from Gill Simpson at MSIP. I was blown away, not just by the turnout, but by the stunning gowns on display! We’re hosting our annual networking breakfast with an early morning viewing of the exhibition later this month, so I’m really looking forward to going back and taking it all in again (at a much more relaxed pace!).

Thursday

I worked from home on Thursday, which meant a full focus on admin. A large part of the day was spent planning our 2026 Chamber Champion Awards and Dundee Economic Summit that are both coming later this year. The awards is one of my favourite events of the year because I love hearing about our members’ successes and seeing them celebrated, and I’m so excited to get back into the nitty gritty of planning these large events.

At this stage, it was very much a “brain dump” session, mapping out all the tasks that need to be completed between now and the event. There’s a lot to organise, but it’s always worth it. Keep an eye on our socials for more details!

I also made sure to get out for some fresh air during lunch, taking a wander to my local park and making the most of the longer, lighter days.

Friday

Friday had a slower pace, especially since there were fewer emails coming on over the Easter Bank Holiday. I spent some time reviewing the week as a whole, tying up loose ends, checking in on ongoing projects, and making sure everything was in a good place before the weekend.

I also used the quieter time to have a couple of catch-ups with the team, sharing updates and ideas that often get lost in busier days.

Before logging off, I mapped out a few priorities for the week ahead. It’s a small habit, but it makes a big difference in helping me start Monday feeling clear, focused, and ready to go.
