Friday: Finishing Strong
As the week draws to a close, Friday begins with some exercise before a final review of priorities ahead of the weekend. It's also a reminder of the importance of consistency, having recently reached an 898-day streak learning Spanish on Duolingo.
A Teams meeting with our Sales Director provides an opportunity to review live projects and potential opportunities. We discuss priorities, next steps and how best to support clients across a range of sectors.
Much of the day is spent coordinating with technical teams, preparing project briefs and supporting opportunities progressing through the quotation stage. There are also tender submissions to follow up, supplier discussions to hold and client presentations to prepare.
By the end of the day, it's satisfying to see how much progress has been made throughout the week. Documentation is updated, actions allocated and plans put in place for the week ahead.
Friday evening often means firing up the barbecue or relaxing in the garden.
Final Thoughts
One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is the variety. Every week combines client engagement, project development, networking, site surveys, technology discussions and problem-solving. Whether I'm travelling across Scotland, collaborating with colleagues at Fluid AV or helping clients create more effective collaboration spaces, each day presents new challenges and opportunities.
Maintaining a healthy work-life balance is equally important. Outside of work, I enjoy cycling, swimming, gardening and cooking. Growing fruit, vegetables and herbs has become a rewarding hobby, and there's something particularly satisfying about using home-grown produce in the kitchen.
For me, gardening teaches patience and planning, cycling and swimming provide energy and focus, while cooking offers a creative outlet. Together, these activities help me recharge, stay motivated and bring fresh ideas to the projects and people I work with every day. After all, successful business development is about building relationships, solving problems and continually growing, both professionally and personally.
