An appeal, if you will, for your eyes, open-mindedness and required attendance. Less bucket shaking. A bit.

Dock Street Studios, the up and coming space of Dundee talent has opened its doors to showcase two exemplary art exhibitions this summer. Stationed directly opposite the V & A, the gallery that is set to change Dundee, is a slightly smaller, but equally active ever-evolving arena displaying local creativity. A fashionable alternative to the white-cube gallery, and with the manifesto of ‘keeping it Dundee’ it is the ideal platform for helping the poor art graduate on their way.

Part 1 of Save the Graduate (July 11-25) will exhibit Fine Art from the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design Degree Show of this year, 2018. Each artist was specifically chosen due to their high standard of work.

Amongst chosen candidates are numerous prize winners. This includes RSA Contemporaries selections, The Art Angel Award winner, runner up of the Edinburgh Sculpture Award and the winner of the coveted Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA) Prize.

A response to a different gallery setting has given a new light to the works. For many pieces, it is the first time they will have graced walls outside the art college. Paintings, sculpture and concepts will all be exhibited, and available to purchase. Remarkable ability paired with sophisticated execution in an alternate setting makes for an exhibition that will lead to further Dock Street Studio hype.

Is Save the Graduate, worth a visit from the art-pros who have perhaps, attended the Degree Show? The simple answer is yes. Amongst familiar artwork will be fresh works which have been developed for this new space.

The opening night (11th July 7-9pm) will be led by the artists themselves. They will give talks about their practise and answer any relating questions. A variety show of character, creativity and charisma; the night promises to be a social event of making artistic connections.

The invitation is yours. Please come along to the opening night or pop in to visit as the show continues for the next two weeks.  To receive updates, look for the event page on Facebook or just follow @Dockstreetstudios.

Organised and curated by Dock Street Studios owner, Sara Campbell.
