HILLCREST TRAINING ACADEMY:
FINANCE FOR BUSINESS
Finance and Funding is an essential part of business in today's world.
In order to invest, become more innovative and always be one step ahead of the competition, do you have the knowledge and tools to help you along the way? One of the key issues that we hear from businesses is that they would like to grow their businesses but finance can very often be the sticking point - so we've decided to dedicate one of our expert table based events to this topic.
Our Finance Gurus will be guiding attendees through simple steps and processes to help your business grow. From the importance of financial reporting and record keeping to crowdfunding and R&D Tax Credits, you'll walk away better equipped to manage your finances along with ideas on how to apply funding opportunities within your business.
We'll be joined on the evening by:
Shelley Hague, Angus Council
Shelley is the Strategic Policy and Planning Manager within Angus Council Economic Development. Due to the nature of Economic Development every day is different but Shelley spends a lot of her time supporting communities and businesses to find the funding they require to take forward their idea/project. The Crowdfunding portal has been a massive piece of work for her and the team as an innovative funding solution for communities, individuals and businesses and she hopes it will change the way we look at funding.
Paul Kyle, CIK Solutions
Paul is a practical, results driven business consultant. CIK Solutions is Paul’s business and as an experienced, commercially aware mentor with a strong record of successful change projects, Paul works with businesses to drive performance, effective management and efficient financial control within client’s business. Specialties: Fund raising, Decision support, Interim Management, Project implementation, Business Process Improvement, R & D Tax Credits and generally making a difference.
Paul will focus at the event on Research and Development tax credits which despite being the Government's most generous funding mechanism, it is also the most under-claimed. Designed to reward innovation and increase the overall competitiveness of the UK economy, the scheme enables companies that incur costs in developing or improving their products, processes, knowledge or technologies to receive a cash payment or tax deduction.
Scott Kennedy AAT FCCA, Manager of Amber Accounting Services, a department of EQ Accountants LLP.
Scott manages Amber Accounting Services in EQ Accountants Forfar office, which means he has a wide range of clients from many different industry types, from farms to manufacturing. Scott and his team support businesses with all aspects of their day to day business, offering basic bookkeeping support for smaller businesses, right up to monthly management reporting functions for our larger clients.
He specialises in business support and is a champion of Cloud accounting systems, an increasingly prominent feature of the accounting sector. Scott believes that, to be a successful business, accurate information which is reported promptly, is one of the most important factors when making business decisions.
Scott will be discussing the importance of financial reporting and record keeping, how Cloud Accounting systems can provide accurate, up to date financial information and how best to achieve this to suit your business needs. He will provide some real examples and show how we can all ensure we are ready for the new HRMC initiative, Making Tax Digital coming into effect in April.
