Small Business Games Event

Date & Time

Thursday, Nov 29, 2018 at 12:00 - 15:00

Join us for an event showcasing talented games studios from across Scotland! #SmallBizSatUK

This event is aimed at the Games Industry and discussing the support available to reach international markets.

Taking place at Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce, 37 City Quay the event is part of the Small Business Saturday campaign, which exists to support, inspire and promote small businesses.

The Department for International Trade in partnership with the Scottish Chamber Network, are delighted to bring you this event focussing on the games industry.

The event, on Thursday 29th November 2018, will hear about the support available to help games & digital businesses grow, reach new markets and trade on a global stage.

We could say,

We'll have a Panel session in conjunction with UKIE (UK Interactive Entertainment), a trade body that represents the UK's games and interactive entertainment industry.

The Panel on international trade will talk about how games companies can meet international customers at major trade fairs such as Game Developers Conference in San Francisco from 18-22 March 2019, the largest games industry event in the world, where the Department for International Trade will be supporting a UK group organised by Ukie.

Closer to home, UK games companies can also learn about how they can network with potential new customers and investors, including Chinese companies, at the London Games Festival, from 2-14 April 2019, which is organised by Games London and Ukie.

Then we'll hear from Sean Taylor, Project Director of InGAME, about the £9m video gaming research and development hub based in Dundee. The InGAME project will provide space for artists, designers, writers, and business specialists. The project is being led by Abertay University, in partnership with the University of Dundee and St Andrews University.

We'll also hear from Gary McCartan, Director at Pocket Sized Hands, talking about their journey: from accessing significant investment funding to take a first game to market to using the latest tools and interfaces for dynamic audio design.

Join us in the heart of Dundee's Waterfrontat 12noon for food & a chance to meet local studios & games companies before the event kicks off at 12.30pm - there will be lots of opportunity during the afternoon to talk to attendees about the support available to grow & internationalise your business.
