What does the future of your workplace look like?

Since March 2020 workplaces have had to deal with lots of changes, many were forced to close their doors, insisting that team members worked from home. Businesses are now starting the process of returning to the workplace but times are different. Many are adopting a flexible working policy and hybrid approach, how will this impact the workplace?

The scope of his current role ranges from portfolio strategy, through estates management, capital projects to space and facilities management.

Chris have recently been appointed as a BCO director on the occupier side and my priorities are Sustainability, Inclusion and Flexibility.

Phil Muir, Space Solutions

Phil has 23 years of workplace consultancy and design experience within architectural practice, with a keen interest in integrating the latest workplace thinking into design. Following his degree in Architectural Technology, Phil worked as a senior consultant for over a decade with workplace practice DEGW before joining Space Solutions in 2012.

Phil enjoys working with large and complex end user groups and has led on many successful projects across the public and private sectors. He excels at turning difficult problems into creative and innovative design solutions.

During lockdown Phil and the team conducted a research series to better understand how organisations reacted to lockdown and their long-term plans for work and the workplace. During this period, the team carried out c.70 projects focused directly on occupiers preparing their workplaces and educational facilities. As we move forward, Phil is leading workplace consultancy projects for organisations looking at the post-Covid workplace and the future of work.

Sarah Franke, Hillcrest

Sarah leads the Business Transformation team at Hillcrest, which supports the organisation in achieving its change programme. One of the overarching initiatives at the moment is enabling staff to return to the office and work differently after the pandemic, including a shift to hybrid working. Change looks slightly different for Hillcrest’s four companies, and Sarah’s team are instrumental in drawing out each area’s needs and breaking these down into achievable projects.

Before joining Hillcrest in September 2020 Sarah worked at three universities in a variety of roles which were always at the centre of connecting supporting services, such as IT, to business and research teams. Or, as she would explain to her mum: Translate between the techy folks and academics.
