About Katy Tallon:
Katy Tallon is the first Head of Sustainability appointed at DC Thomson, pivotal to the business' strategic shift towards shaping and driving a more sustainable future. Katy has previously led sustainability efforts at major media organisations including Fremantle and BAFTA. Her early career was as a TV producer, but over time she found she could no longer suppress or stomach the destruction of nature and our precious natural life-support system being discarded with such little consideration or awareness. Katy's role involves strategic planning and positioning, reporting, data capture and analysis, as well as governance, but her real passion lies in promoting the role of storytelling as a mechanism to create and drive change.
Despite having previously suffered from a host of anxiety-related disorders, Katy speaks passionately about how having a sense of purpose at work can lead to a more optimistic, less anxious outlook. The climate crisis makes for depressing reading, and working in this area requires enormous resilience, but she seeks to inspire others to find a way to infuse their lives with passion and purpose as a gateway to finding peace, drive, and a genuine sense of achievement and accomplishment.
Katy has previously been a Hub Lead for Women in Sustainability, a network for women working across the environmental and sustainability fields, with the mission to create positive change for a sustainable future.
