Public speaking can feel daunting, but with the right tools, it can become a natural, confident, and even enjoyable skill. This practical and engaging session is designed for anyone looking to improve how they communicate, whether in meetings, presentations, or everyday interactions.
We’ll dip into the fundamentals of presence and impact: voice, posture, breathing, clarity, and pacing. Elaine will give you a taste of exercises from the world of acting that help you develop a confident presence whilst having fun along the way.
The session is lively, structured and supportive, giving you practical techniques that you can apply immediately. By the end of the masterclass, you’ll feel more comfortable on your feet, equipped with actionable strategies to make public speaking easier, more confident, and more impactful.
NB: There will be movement involved, so please wear comfortable shoes and clothing. A short break is scheduled around midday to keep energy levels high.
About Elaine Newton:
Elaine Newton is a Scottish acting, improv and public speaking coach and founder of The Acting Lab in Dundee. A graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Elaine honed her skills further in Paris, Los Angeles, and London before returning home to establish The Acting Lab in 2015. Her international training and extensive experience allow her to support students and clients with practical techniques, professional insight, and an empathetic, enthusiastic approach that builds lasting confidence.
