In Chamber Shoes - Simon Rolfe

Simon is the Membership & Recruitment Manager at the Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce. Simon deals with new membership enquiries, proactively developing new interests and seeking out ways to provide potential members with the business connections and opportunities they need to flourish in the region. He is passionate about Dundee & Angus and wants to promote it as a world class destination. He also acts as a taxi service to his 2 girls and occasionally manages to escape to Montrose Tennis Club.

Starting Week Three

The start of Week 3 for me, having only recently been appointed Membership Manager. Our Membership Engagement Daniel Cargill only joined a week before me! And that, coupled with an office reorganisation and general chaos, has meant that it was high time the new team sat down for a Monday Team Meeting to discuss plans for the coming weeks and months. Exciting times ahead...

It's Independents Day here in Dundee as we celebrate those great local businesses who underpin our economic success!

Business in Angus

We have great relationships with business organisations and I spent some of Tuesday morning following up with new contacts made at the recent Business Angus Breakfast in Piperdam. Other highlights were visiting a renowned poultry farm and a visual merchandising company, both based in Angus. And both keen to learn how working with the Chamber can help their business network and ultimately offer increased opportunities.

The Membership Team...

Wednesday was spent streamlining internal procedures with the Membership Engagement champion, Daniel Cargill. It’s also great to have the desks and computers in the new and improved layout! Out again in the afternoon to meet with businesses wanting to learn more about working with the Chamber. Learning more about the different sectors and how we can support their individual business needs is really keen to having fruitful conversations!

The Apex is a popular spot!

Thursday was another busy day for prospective client meetings - our key objective at the moment is making sure that companies interested in joining the Chamber are given all the information they need before signing up, so they can maximise the initial PR and marketing via our various channels. As usual, the Apex Hotel lobby and baristas played a key role in providing a comfortable place to meet – I expect an Apex ‘Frequent Flyer’ card in the post soon!

A new member application lands on my desk today following a meeting in the Apex last week, so it's definitely a good place to connect! Welcome to Tom Cosgrove of Espresso Training...we look forward to working with you in the future.

Relaxing end to a busy week

A long weekend (booked before I joined the DACC I should add) near Penrith in the Lake District – a chance for the southern part of my family to meet up with us northerners for a wee break, enjoying this stunning part of the world. A fine and relaxing way to end a very busy and exciting 3rd week at the Chamber!
