In Chamber Shoes - Daniel Cargill

Daniel’s role as Membership Engagement Executive sees him as the key link in maintaining members through positive and proactive engagement and communication. He is also involved in continuously developing and reviewing relevant services for members, coordinating DACC's involvement in the Business Mentoring Scotland programme and supporting the Chamber's Export Documentation Service.

Daniel's hobbies outside of work are predominately sport related, playing football for a team in the Dundee Saturday morning league as well as being a member at Carnoustie golf links.

Start of week 5!

The start of Week 5 for me in my new role here at the chamber. I certainly feel like the wheel is turning now and I’m settling into my different responsibilities. That’s the great part of my job, no two days are the same with a variety of different tasks to be completed. A chunk out of the middle part of my day was attending the Courier business briefing in partnership with Dundee University titled ‘Brexit: What happens next?’ A great briefing on an extremely hot topic. It was also nice to meet and have a chat with Graham Huband of The Courier before and after the event who took a seat on the panel. P.S we don’t know what will happen next…

Business Mentoring Programme

Meeting with a mentor! Part of my role here at the chamber is running the Business Mentoring programme, I spent the majority of my morning meeting with a potential mentor who is eager to pass on his previous experience in business to those looking for a bit of guidance or even to be used as a soundboard for batting ideas back and forward. A very interesting insight to the career of a man who had been a Managing Director for over 30 years before retiring. If you’d like to find out a little more regarding the mentoring programme, either taking part as a mentor or becoming a mentee please get in touch!

Off to Arbroath, mentoring programme kicks off!

Flip side of the mentoring coin! Off to Arbroath to meet with a local business who have previously been involved with the mentoring programme and are once again looking to bring in someone to help them with their marketing strategy and implementation. It’s exciting to see these businesses start to come forward and I’m hopeful we’ll see a rise in interest over the coming months as it starts to gain further awareness locally.

Member presentation, nice trip to The Dukes!

Well I can’t complain at the morning I’ve had today, myself and Donna travelled through to St Andrews to meet with Simon Anderson and Craig Waddell of The Old Course Hotel/The Dukes Golf Course. We were discussing the hotel’s membership as well as having a tour of the Dukes Course and clubhouse, a great venue! Perhaps a DACC golf day in the offing? As a (relatively) keen golfer myself I wouldn’t say no!

End of the week already!? Nice way to end in Malmaison

Certainly not my first member meeting of the week but another great one, discussing members’ goals and ambitions for the year and how the chamber can aid them in this process is something I really enjoy.  For any current members reading this who would like to discuss their membership and getting the best from the chamber please do contact me!

To finish off my 5th week with the chamber I had the pleasure of heading to the Malmaison for their free fizz Friday, which can be highly recommended by all the chamber staff! Kane was an excellent host and it was a nice way to round off a busy week.
