In Your Shoes - Angharad Low

Angharad Low, Corporate Fundraiser at CHAS (Children’s Hospices Across Scotland)

£4000 and it's just monday!

Back from a week’s annual leave and right back to it! I popped over to Glasgow Green in the morning to meet some lovely employees of Central Fusion. They’d been providing the bars at TRNSMT festival over the weekend and had been kind enough to host CHAS collecting cans on each counter. They think they’ve raised about £4000 which is fantastic!

So back to the office I went, 80 collecting cans in tow, for a not so exciting afternoon – catching up on a week’s worth of emails!

Would like to have said my evening was spent productively cleaning and packing away holiday clothes, but that would be a lie ……. Tropic Thunder anyone?

#puppybroodiness

A Tayside day today. Up on Perth in the morning to speak to a contact at Aberdein Considine to see how they might be able to support our amazing new campaign – Keep the Joy Alive – to help us reach every family in Scotland that needs our support. This is the part of my job that I love the most – getting out to meet people and talk about the amazing support CHAS gives to children with life shortening conditions and their families.

From Perth, a flying visit to B&M in Forfar to drop off some fundraising materials – and back down to Dundee for a few more meetings before heading back to Edinburgh.

Call from the husband on the way home to say his brother’s just bought a puppy! Que evening of perusing the web for puppies in Edinburgh #puppybroodiness!

Keep the Joy Alive!

Over to Glasgow again, this time made even better with cake! It was my colleagues birthday recently so to kick off a team meeting my manager produced a rather tasty lemon drizzle cake. Lots of chat about how we can tell as many people as possible about the Keep the Joy Alive campaign, including how much I enjoyed the Tri-chamber networking event at Dundee Football Club and what a great opportunity it was to talk to businesses of all shapes and sizes about the families we support.

a visit to Rachel House

Up in Kinross today for one of my favourite things – a visit to Rachel House, the first of CHAS’ children’s hospices to be built, and the first children’s hospice in Scotland! I was there to show one of our corporate supporters round as well as catch-up with some colleagues.

As I walked in, one of the activities team was helping some siblings to make a ‘jump’ for the racing cars whilst some of the kids were making the most of the sunshine and playing outside on the new accessible wheelchair swing. Lovely to see what’s at the heart of CHAS – creating special memories and helping families to really enjoy whatever time they have together.

Cute!

Day off today. Spent most of the morning tidying then whisked up to Pitlochry for the weekend to stay with the in-laws, and most importantly, meet the puppy! Beyond cute!
