Build and EditMonday 25 June 2018
Following on from yesterdays successful day of filming, today is all about organising and building the edit for Turtle Pack.
As part of our strategic process we have outlined a number of different videos that will be produced to ensure the correct mix of messaging across social media and on the Crowdfunding platform to give the campaign the best chance of success.
I spend the day watching, organising and building the edit for the various videos we are producing. Organisation is key at this stage of the edit, everything needs to be split into its relevant folders and must be labelled correctly to ensure the project flows smoothly as we progress. Meanwhile my video strategist, Chloe, is spending time researching and building the target audience for the Turtle Pack campaign to ensure the whole project is running in sync. Having a clear strategy from the outset helps this process.
An Ocean of OpportunityTuesday 26 June 2018
Now that the Turtle Pack project is organised and ready to edit I switch attention to another client. We have just last week finished producing a series of 7 videos for another exciting client based in Dundee, Iron Ocean.
This week sees the culmination of months of hard work as we get ready to launch the Iron Ocean campaign on the 1st July. Iron Ocean are already making huge waves and alongside Turtle Pack are an example of our ideal client. A young, exciting brand with multiple awards and accolades to their name already. A brand we can build relationships with and help to grow.
We have built a strong relationship with Simon the Founder of Iron Ocean and after spending the morning finalising all content we have a final meeting at his office to discuss the campaign and ensure everything is in place for the launch of the crowdfunder.
AccelerationWednesday 27 June 2018
Today I am up and on the road to Edinburgh at 6am for an 8am seminar on Funding and Investment at RBS Gogarburn. I have now been taking part in the RBS Entrepreneur Accelerator for 3 months and try to work out of the Hub at Gogarburn at least 1 day per week. This accelerator has followed on from my time spent on The Acorn Enterprise Accelerator in Dundee at the end of last year. Both have helped me focus and move my business forward.
There is a wealth of information, advice and networking opportunities available to me through this programme and I am grasping this with both hands.
After the seminar I spend some time meeting with other entrepreneurs on the programme discussing opportunities and sharing ideas. My attention then turns back to Turtle Pack where I spend the afternoon editing the first of the crowdfunding videos.
Sunshine and Football!Thursday 28 June 2018
I’m a big believer in making time for yourself, family and friends. I work hard but always make sure I have time off to enjoy myself too.
Today I have earmarked some time to watch the World Cup. I’m a big football fan and a season ticket holder at Dundee United. I have been enjoying this World Cup, maybe too much if you ask my other half!!! She knows that if Scotland ever get there again she can expect not to see me for a few weeks.
I was lucky enough to be in France as a 17 year old the last time Scotland got there in 1998 and had visions of attending every tournament after that. I still hold on to the hope that we’ll make a major tournament again....
With the heatwave we’re having I decided to watch the football in the garden whilst soaking up some sun.
Mooviing into the FutureFriday 29 June 2018
Today I sat in the Sunshine with Chloe who works with me and we had a good chat about the direction of the business.
It is easy for time to pass you by, moving from client to client and never stopping to take stock. I recently lost a client having spent a lot of time and effort working on proposals and producing work for them only to lose the contract and receive no payment.
Rather than see this as a negative I have decided that there is a lot we can learn from the experience. I have a clear vision for the future of Moovii. We aim to do things differently and build a business that disrupts the traditional agency model. In my mind there are better ways to do things and at Moovii we plan to move forward implementing new ideas and working methods, enjoying ourselves as we go.
