New support available for Dundee & Angus businesses to grow internationally

Businesses in Dundee and Angus are being offered assistance to expand their horizons and grow their sales in international markets and Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce is urging them to seize the opportunity with both hands.  The Chamber is part of the newly formed Scottish Chambers International, who are working in partnership with Scottish Development International to deliver an exciting new international trade skills programme called 'Smart Exporter'. 'Smart Exporter' offers free or subsidised advice and services for companies and individuals who want to expand their exporting knowledge and international footprint.  The programme is being rolled out across Scotland, and it is being launched locally at a road show at Michelin in Dundee on 21st February. Local businesses will be able to take advantage of a wide range of services, including introduction services for new businesses, market awareness sessions looking at entry into particular countries, strategy development programmes and one-to-one training and technical support. Alan Mitchell, Chief Executive of Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce, said: 'A combination of the global economy and digital communications means that more businesses than ever have the opportunity to break into international markets.  Dundee and Angus is already home to many internationally successful companies, but many businesses are still missing out on opportunities to grow because they don't think they can export or because they don't know how to. Smart Exporter will address this by offering a wide array of support that is suitable for all sizes of companies and across all stages of their international development process.  With global trade set to grow much faster than the Scottish economy over the coming years, every business in Dundee and Angus should be considering how it can move into international markets or expand its international reach as a matter of urgency.'
