Please note the details of the opportunity for companies to work with Scottish Canals and win 100% funding for developing a solution to control the spread of New Zealand Pigmy Weed (Crassula helmsii) growth on the Caledonian Canal, Inverness.

This project is funded by Scottish Enterprise via the Can Do Innovation Challenge Fund which seeks innovators to develop new management techniques to control the spread of, and where possible eradicate, NZP. The plant is found growing on land and in the water in the canal system. Any solution needs to be practical, scalable and take account of environmental regulations and the wider ecology of the canal and its catchment.

The competition will be run using the SBRI (pre-commercial procurement) process and contractual documents to procure the R&D services for the development of a solution. This is potentially a two phased process.
