The second phase of a successful city electric vehicle charging cluster could be just around the corner.

Councillors will be asked to green light £75,000 worth of work to install facilities at Balgay Street in Lochee.

Mark Flynn depute convener of Dundee City Council’s city development committee said: “Since we opened the initial hub in Aimer Square in April it has proved to be well used and well-liked by both private EV drivers and taxi operators.

“This second phase will see three chargers put in nearby, again with the backing of the Office of Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV), Go Ultra Low cities project.

“Developments like this help us all to reap the benefits of cleaner air.”

If councillors approve the bid for the work by Swarco it is expected to start in November and take around a month to complete.

The city development committee meets on Monday October 29.

A total of three hubs are planned for the Lochee ward.

The availability of a large pool of highly skilled labour is a key feature in the Dundee economy. Flexibility in the labour force is currently more prevalent in Dundee than in Scotland as a whole. All forms of labour market flexibility - part-time, temporary employment, self-employment and shift work - are widely operational within the city. Labour force stability in the city is excellent, enabling companies to plan with confidence. Labour turnover levels are less than 5% and absenteeism averages 2%.
