The acclaimed Dundee Photographic Society has returned to Discovery Point with a new exhibition showcasing some exceptional work.

A wide variety of work is on display from four internal Dundee Photographic Society competitions, reflecting many different photographic interests and techniques. Subjects range from abstract works, wildlife shots, Scottish landscapes and portraits.

Dundee Photographic Society was founded in 1880 and currently has an enthusiastic membership of 140, making it one of the UK's leading amateur photographic clubs as well as one of the largest community groups in Dundee. The Society is highly regarded in the Scottish national photography scene for its work in promoting excellence and encouraging participation in photography.

The Society hosts lectures and presentations on various aspects of photography from top photographers from all over the UK. In addition, Dundee Photographic Society runs many competitions and participates in various inter-club events where Dundee has enjoyed a high degree of success. For beginners they offer free tuition classes, lots of encouragement and practical help. For experienced photographers there is the opportunity to meet likeminded people, find new inspiration and take their photography to the next level. The Society also organises exhibitions throughout the year where all members can exhibit and sell their work.

David Sadler, President of the Dundee Photographic Society, said:

"The exhibition is always the source of much pride and we will have a great range of images on view again this year. We are delighted that our pictures will be hanging at such a prestigious location as Discovery Point, to be enjoyed by so many visitors in the cafe area. It really is a feather in our cap!"

Louisa Attaheri, Curator for Dundee Heritage Trust, said:

"We are delighted that Dundee Photographic Society is returning to Discovery Point this year. This exhibition is always popular with our visitors and reflects the wealth of artistic talent we have in the city."

The exhibition in the Discovery Point Café Gallery runs from Saturday 14 April until Thursday 12 July. Admission is free.
