Dundee aqua park set to double in size
Friday 15 March
Dundee’s aqua park is to become one of the biggest in Scotland after its owners revealed it will double in size when it reopens next month.
According to the owners, Foxlake Adventures, the new elements will “completely transform” the park with the addition of even more obstacles similar to those seen on popular TV show Total Wipeout.
The obstacle course, next to the company’s wakeboarding facility at City Quay, has proved popular with locals, as well as visitors, since opening in June last year.
The exact elements are still to be confirmed but some of those expected to feature are monkey bars and slides.
It will welcome customers to Victoria Dock again on April 6 and remain open until winter arrives.
Foxlake Adventures director Callum Mark said the park will return “bigger and better” this year.
He said: “After the successful launch of our aqua park last year we are delighted to announce that we are effectively doubling the number of features and elements for the 2019 season, making it one of the largest aqua parks in Scotland.
“The new layout will completely transform the existing set up and will include features like monkey bars, slides, obstacles and new wipeout-style elements.
“We truly appreciate the incredible response and support the launch of the park received from the locals of Dundee and visiting tourist last year and we cant wait to see thousands of more smiling faces back on the water this year.
“The new expansion should give all of our adventurous participants the perfect opportunity to come back and experience the new additions.”
The fun-filled water activity is Scotland’s first urban aqua park and one of the first in the UK.
Customers are kitted out in a wet suit before being given free reign to beat as much of the course as they can.
In its current form, it includes 18 floating obstacles ranging from free-falling waterslides to bridges and so-called ‘ninja runs’.
The 100ft by 100ft course accommodates up to 24 people at any one time and is suitable for people aged seven or older.
As well as wakeboarding, the centre also offers paddle boarding and Ringo rides.
Foxlake Adventures opened its first centre in Dunbar in East Lothian before expanding to Dundee.
