Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills John Swinney MSP has officially opened the new £17 million North East Campus and £16 million Coldside Campus.
Pupils will celebrate the openings with music and Mr Swinney will unveil plaques to commemorate the opening of the new Dundee City Council buildings.
Deputy First Minister John Swinney said: “I have had the rare pleasure of being asked to open two brand new state of the art facilities on the same day here in Dundee.
“Coldside Campus and North East Campus will both benefit the communities they serve while providing exciting new facilities which learners and staff can be proud of.
“I am pleased that the Scottish Government was able to provide funding of over £9 million towards the construction of North East Campus as part of our £1.8 billion Schools for the Future programme which will see 117 schools across Scotland replaced or refurbished by March 2020.
“I wish both campuses and all who use them the best of luck for the future.”
The North East Campus contains Longhaugh Primary, St Francis Primary and Quarry View Nursery School.
The Coldside Campus contains Our Lady’s Primary, Rosebank Primary and Frances Wright Nursery School.
Both buildings opened for business in August.

“These are state of the art facilities to meet the challenges that our pupils will face in the years ahead.
“The official openings are a great way to celebrate an important day for the whole school community.”

“Pupils and staff have been benefiting from the modern facilities at North East Campus and Coldside Campus since August and I am sure they already feel right at home. These schools, delivered in partnership with Willmott Dixon and procured through Scape’s National Major Works framework, have been built to the highest standards and will bring lasting value to people across Dundee.
“Transforming communities is at the heart of what we do and throughout construction, we have engaged closely with the local community – including working with Heartstart Discovery to deliver emergency first aid training to our subcontractors and providing numerous education and training opportunities.”

Dundee draws skilled workers from a 60-minute catchment population of 640,000 and has a local population of over 140,000. The availability of a large pool of highly skilled labour is a key feature in the Dundee economy. Flexibility in the labour force is currently more prevalent in Dundee than in Scotland as a whole. All forms of labour market flexibility - part-time, temporary employment, self-employment and shift work - are widely operational within the city. Labour force stability in the city is excellent, enabling companies to plan with confidence. Labour turnover levels are less than 5% and absenteeism averages 2%.
