Glenrothes gears up for FREE science adventure
Tuesday 15 May
From dazzling chemistry experiments to flying drones, Fife Science Festival is once again preparing to descend on Glenrothes, with a whole circuit of exciting family fun!
The festival will run from Saturday 12 May until Saturday 9 June 2018, with a free, family ‘Science Adventure’ taking place at the Lomond Centre, Glenrothes from 11am until 4pm on Saturday 26 May 2018.
Bringing together experts from across Scotland, the Glenrothes event will challenge visitors to test their strength, endurance, agility and coordination with Glasgow Science Centre’s FitLab, while allowing them to get immersed in some colourful chemistry experiments with Dundee and Angus College. Meanwhile, there’s the chance to fly a drone with local manufacturing company Raytheon, take part in numerous ABC Lab activities linked to children’s development, and learn about the science behind bridge-building with the British Science Association.
Dundee Science Centre, who are once again coordinating the festival, will also be on hand with their brand new science boxes, packed with a host of fun activities ranging from medicine and health to rockets and science you can do at home!
The following day, Sunday 27 May 2018, will see Dundee Science Centre’s science busking team head into the town’s Kingdom Shopping Centre with a host of CSI activities relating to bones and fingerprinting. Science busking will run from 11am until 3pm.
A similar ‘Science Adventure’ will take place at Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre on Saturday 2 June 2018.
Paul Strachan, Exhibition and Community Engagement Manager, Dundee Science Centre said, “We can’t wait to bring this year’s Science Adventure to Glenrothes – it promises to be bigger and better than ever before, with lots of family-friendly activities to get stuck into. We’re on a mission to bring science, technology, engineering and maths to life for both children and adults alike, with plenty of entertainment and interaction, and all free! Come along, whatever your interests, and embrace some of the highlights of this year’s Fife Science Festival!”
