Gowrie Care, part of the Hillcrest Group, was one of four charities recognised at the first Good Governance Award ceremony during an event held in Dundee’s city chambers on Thursday night.

Achieving the Good Governance accreditation highlights Gowrie’s commitment to continually reviewing policies and procedures to ensure they are a well-run charity.

Dundee Voluntary Action developed the Award, and Chief Executive Christine Lowden said, "People need to have confidence that the charities they support are well run. Our Good Governance assessor carries out a thorough inspection of policy and practice. The four organisations who have come through in this first year are enthusiastic about improvement, and they deserve credit for their good practice."

On achieving accreditation Chris Robb, Gowrie Care area manager commented that “We’re always looking for ways to improve and strive to be the best we can when it comes to governance.

“The accreditation process allowed us to analyse our internal process and put improvements in place. We’re delighted to be one of the first four charities to achieve this accreditation and I would like to congratulate the other three charities who joined us on the night.”
