Leadership in action with Aberdeen UOTC

Aberdeen Universities Officers’ Training Corps will be delivering a free interactive day of training and education for emerging leaders from the commercial and public sector on 28 March at Gordon Barracks.

The aim of the symposium is to enhance delegates’ understanding of practical leadership theories and skills, develop communication and problem-solving abilities and understanding the importance of placing values at the heart of leadership style.

The Royal Military Academy-accredited leadership outreach programme will include theoretical and practical problem-solving exercises throughout the day, as well as featuring three keynote addresses:

  • The Ice Maidens, the first all-female team to ski coast to coast across Antarctica, will talk about the challenges of leadership in extreme environments.
  • A winner of the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross will speak about leadership in combat.
  • Dr Neil McClellan, from Aberdeen University, will discuss the importance of values-based leadership in organisations.

The event is an excellent opportunity for organisations to gain insight into various leadership styles in an array of challenging environments.

There are 50 spaces available and the day is free of charge; including refreshments, a buffet lunch and evening meal for all participants.
