A massive acoustic playground has been launched at Dundee Science Centre, inviting visitors on a toe-tapping musical voyage of disk-overy.
Dundee Science Centre is launching its summer exhibition – Music Mayhem – Science of Sound – which runs from Saturday 23 June through to Sunday 4 November 2018.
The music-making and hugely interactive exhibition, which allows friends and families to play together, will stimulate and sharpen the senses, with exploration and experimentation in sound to delight and engage visitors of all ages
Visitors will be able to generate spectacular sounds and create riotous rhythms, pump air through the ‘monster flute’ or change pitch using their own body weight. There will also be the chance to get creative and manufacture music with electronics on the DJ table, make a melody by stepping along the ‘walking bass’ and find out what noise a flip flop makes on the ‘slam organ’.
Paul Strachan, Exhibition and Community Engagement Manager, Dundee Science Centre said, “We’re delighted to be welcoming Music Mayhem back to Dundee Science Centre, after its resounding success several years ago. Whether they think they’re musical or not, visitors of all ages will be able to play, explore, test and discover, learning how sound works and also what sound actually is. What’s more, no age group is immune, with plenty of scope for our younger visitors to have some musical fun alongside more accomplished musicians looking to create rhythms and melodies.”
