With nearly half the population unhappy with their teeth*, Dundee shoppers will get the chance to bag a smile selfie this week, as part of National Smile Month.
The team from Beam Orthodontics are taking their pearly whites to Overgate on Wednesday 16 May to support the UK’s biggest oral health campaign which runs from Monday 14 May until Thursday 14 June 2018.
Visitors to the Overgate’s lower mall can take and share a ‘smile selfie’ between 9am and 4pm, and receive a goody bag packed with dental delights!

It’s a brilliant and engaging campaign which raises the awareness of dental health and how to create a healthier smile. Remarkably 48% of the population are unhappy with their teeth but it’s never too late to turn things around. Dr Nigel Carter OBE, Chief Executive of the Oral Health Foundation added, “I’m delighted that Beam Orthodontics has joined the thousands of organisations to engage with National Smile Month. It is a great reflection of local community spirit and an excellent way to promote good oral health. By making an event as fun and imaginative as possible, we hope it will inspire more people to join in than ever before while delivering the Oral Health Foundation’s three key messages for good oral health; brush for two minutes twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste, cut down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks, and visit the dentist regularly.”
Beam is also giving away a voucher for a meal and drinks for two at Gallery 48*, one of Dundee’s exciting new restaurants, to all patients who sign up for private treatment during National Smile Month.
The contemporary and dynamic specialist practice, which opened in 2007, is co-owned by specialist orthodontist Ruaridh McKelvey and welcomes patients from throughout Dundee and Angus, Perthshire, Fife, Aberdeenshire and Central Scotland.
