Dundee College Wins Tender for Apprentice Training

Skills Development Scotland has informed Dundee College that they have secured funding to train nearly 100 modern apprentices.

This is the first year that the colleges across Scotland have been formally invited by SDS to tender for Modern Apprentice places. As part of the tender process, Dundee College had to research prospective employer demand for future employee places in Tayside and Fife.

Among the areas involved in the tender process are:  health and social care, children's care, learning and development, accounting, business and administration, hairdressing, life science, and automotive technology.

Karen Donaldson, Dundee College employer engagement and contracts manager, commented on the news: 'With employers far more likely to fill an apprentice place when they know they have the support of a well-established organisation such as Dundee College, this announcement means that, potentially, 96 young people will find employment.'

Companies keen to become involved should contact Alan McKay, Dundee College public contract officer, phone (01382) 834925, email a.mckay@dundeecollege.ac.uk.
