JA Braithwaite has been selling coffee and tea in the centre of Dundee for nearly 150 years.

Allan Braithwaite, who took over the family business from his father in 1975, has worked there since he was 16. He's seen tastes change over the years, with coffee now selling slightly more than teas: but Allan has moved with the times, increasing the range of coffee he stocks, as well as selling flavoured and fruit teas,

According to Allan, the hardest thing about running your own business is being available 24/7 for any emergencies which come up. His advice to up-and-coming entrepreneurs is to aim for a niche market, research it really well and differentiate yourself from the big competitors like Tesco so you build your own market.
