Dodd Hill wind farm application submitted to Angus Council.

West Coast Energy has submitted a planning application and environmental statement for a proposed five-turbine wind farm at Dodd Hill to Angus Council. The proposed wind farm is located on farmland approximately 3.5km north east of Tealing, 9.5km north of Dundee and 11km south of Forfar.

If consented, the 12.5MW wind farm is projected to generate sufficient green energy to meet the equivalent annual domestic electricity consumption needs of over 7000 homes per annum. West Coast Energy as a company are committed to the principle that local communities should benefit financially from the generation of renewable energy in their area and have agreed to offer the community areas round Dodd Hill the opportunity to enter into a 10% profit sharing arrangement if planning consent for the Dodd Hill application is granted. This would mean that over the 25 year life span of the wind farm, the three communities could stand to benefit around £3 million of funding to distribute to worthy local schemes. West Coast Energy would secure all the necessary consents and finances without any financial liability or risk to the communities.

West Coast Energy have created the Dodd Hill Community Benefit Forum. Members of the forum will decide upon the most suitable community benefit model for the area. David Sawyers, former Chief Executive of Angus Council, has been chosen by the local Community Councils to become the Forum's independent Chairman.
