European funding aids vocational training.

Sixteen hairdressing, beauty and hospitality students from Angus College recently returned from a highly successful work experience trip to Tenerife. This is the fourth year the college has taken advantage of the European-funded Leonardo Da Vinci programme, which encourages vocational training and education in Europe. The students undertook six weeks of Spanish lessons prior to leaving to help with their language skills and continued with language lessons in Tenerife.

Once there, they were placed in hair and beauty salons, hotel spas, restaurants and a 5* Hotel in Puerto de la Cruz to enable them to experience living abroad, observe different work practices, develop skills and to broaden their horizons.

Course leader, Wendy McLeod says "it's been the most fantastic opportunity and we've been most impressed with the way the students have made the most of their time. They've come back with great memories, gained additional skills and some even have plans to work abroad full time."
