College Students Teach Under-fives To Ride

Angus College students have begun a twelve week course coaching nursery children to ride a bike.

Students from HND Sports Coaching and Developing will partner a child each for the duration of the course, helping them learn to ride a bike safely. The lessons involve balance bikes where the children learn to control a bike without pedals and will be held weekly at Angus College's Sports facility in Arbroath's Saltire Centre.

Dr Sarah Ramminger, course tutor, says 'It's wonderful to see the students build a bond with the children over the weeks and by the end the level of proficiency is impressive. It benefits both sides as the students gain valuable teaching experience with the pre-school age group and the children learn a vital skill - how to ride a bike without stabilisers.'
