There’s an action packed, fun filled programme of recreation adventure, sport and wildlife activities lined up for kids outdoors in Angus from Tuesday 6 to Saturday 17 April as part ANGUSalive’s Easter Holiday Programme.

8 to 11 year-olds will have difficulty deciding if they want to stay on land or take to the water at Monikie Country Park. Those who prefer to stay on land have the choice of joining an instructor for a cycle to improve their mountain bike skills or simply ride around the various trails that the park provides. There’s the opportunity to take up a Teambuilding Challenge which sets out a number of different fun tasks. Water enthusiasts can paddle with an instructor in Canadian open canoes, exploring the shoreline of Monikie reservoir for some Canoes Adventure.

There are a range of bikes available for children and adults to take part in a Family Inclusive Bike Session. You can choose from two-wheeled balance bikes, mountain bikes, wheelchair bike, tandems, side by side, trikes, hand bikes and a recumbent. These hour long sessions allow everyone to access cycling in a safe environment, ensuring all can enjoy the physical and mental benefits of cycling.

Nicola Barbour ANGUSalive Outdoor Physical Activity Lead said: “Easter at ANGUSalive brings a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the outdoors in our country parks and greenspaces by relaxing and reflecting in the beauty nature brings at this time of the year. For the more active amongst you, we provide exhilaration, lots of fun and physical challenges through a range of outdoor activities on land and water.”

If you’re wild about wildlife, you can get creative and learn more about our natural environment at the Wild about Wildlife workshop. Discover how to use natural or recycled materials to create homes for hogs, feeders for birds and boudoirs for bugs. This workshop will allow you to create a feeder or bug house to take home for your own garden.

Go Active Junior Ranger welcomes kids to find out more about the opportunity to volunteer as a Junior Ranger at Forfar Loch and Crombie Country Park. By volunteering, juniors can learn about the natural environment whilst assisting the Rangers in the management of the country parks. No skills are necessary, just bring enthusiasm and wear old clothes and sturdy footwear.

Box Clever to create a bird home and enhance your garden for the benefit of our feathered friends at Monikie. Slightly further afield, you can join the Ranger at Glen Doll for a walk in Upper Glen Clova to discover the natural history of the area and hopefully have your very own encounter with a Golden Eagle.

Children between the ages of 5-11 can take part in fun, outdoor Multi Sports at Arbroath Sports Centre or Brechin Community Campus. Activities will include golf, athletics, dance and outdoor survival activities.

Primary school children can also enrol for Scottish FA Easter Holiday Camp where the focus is on the development of young players through specific age and stage appropriate practices and games. This camp is delivered in line with all current Scottish FA football guidance.

All activities are inclusive and if someone requires that bit of extra support, a buddy can be arranged to assist with this at no extra charge.

As current restrictions don’t allow for museums and libraries in Angus to be open at this time, a digital offering with something for all ages will be available. A selection of Easter craft, stories, competitions, a photo scavenger hunt and a spring challenge is scheduled on the ANGUSalive Libraries Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ANGUSaliveLibraries and ANGUSalive Museums and Galleries Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ANGUSaliveMuseums.
