Perth based independent marketing agency Volpa has secured its position as one of Scotland’s leading independent communications agencies by achieving the Communications Management Standard (CMS), awarded by the industry’s professional body the Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) for companies which demonstrate operational excellence.

The industry standard benchmark, which has been achieved by only two other agencies headquartered in Scotland and is valid for a period of two years, combines elements of ‘ISO9001’ and ‘Investors in People’ with criteria specific to a communications consultancy. Consultancies are scored on nine core areas including leadership and communication, business planning, business improvement, financial management and systems, campaign management, client satisfaction, new business, people management and diversity.

To achieve the accreditation an independent audit was undertaken at Volpa proving systems were in place to ensure the effective planning and measurement of all programme work in the agency, that staff understood the agency’s commitment to programme measurement and that clients and colleagues had been made aware of this approach.

Carol Magill, CMS Assessor at PRCA said:

“Volpa were moderated for CMS against three subsections in leadership and communication, campaign management and financial systems. The section on campaign management was especially strong with detailed documentation demonstrating a focus on keeping clients and teams informed. This agency has invested heavily in a number of intelligent tools to deliver to clients and teams. This is the third year Volpa have been awarded CMS. In 2020 Volpa have had to transform their business in response to Covid19. Their energy and sustained commitment to clients during this challenging period was evident during the moderation.”

Tricia Fox, CEO of Volpa, commented: “We’re delighted to have achieved this re-accreditation. It is a great acknowledgement of the fact we have a well-run business, despite everything that the last year has thrown at us, with all the best practice systems and structures in place. It is a clear demonstration to the team that we are dedicated to their professional development and it shows our absolute commitment to delivering communications excellence for our clients. I am incredibly proud of the team for all their commitment, particularly throughout the last year, navigating the ever-changing waters on the pandemic which has been incredibly unsettling. Looking to the future, we have ambitious plans for the recovery and retaining this accreditation is a key milestone in that process.”
