The culture, sport and leisure trust for the county of Angus is planning to start reopening its doors from Monday 26 April with libraries and sports centres amongst the first of its venues to reopen.

ANGUSalive closed its doors on Christmas Eve last year as part of a nationwide lockdown with only some outdoor Easter holiday activities such as biking, canoeing, football and multi-sports been able to take place.

All of its sports centres will reopen from Monday 26 April allowing access to the fitness suite, gym, lane swimming and family swim sessions and racquet sports such as squash, badminton and short tennis.

There will be a number of outdoor adult fitness classes on offer from 26 April until indoor adult fitness classes can resume mid-May. These classes include HIIT, Zumba, Kettlebells, Circuits, Les Mills BODYATTACK, BODYBALANCE, BODYCOMBAT and BODYSTEP.

Sports centres will also be able to provide contact sports, junior club activities and coached sessions both indoor and outdoor for those up to age 17 years. For adults aged 18+ years, non-contact sport will be allowed outdoors, with only individual exercise is permitted indoors.

The county’s libraries will also reopen from week beginning 26 April for limited browsing and ACCESS Services. Its Mobile Library Service will also resume from 26 April with mobile vans Isla and Glen bringing a selection of books and services to a number of rural locations around Angus. The home delivery service will recommence on Monday 10 May.

Similar to reopening last year, the safety of customers and colleagues is paramount. Visitors will be asked to follow all the safety measures required such as the wearing of face coverings, regular hand sanitising, social distancing as well as pre-booking where required. The trust will also be following all the necessary Test and Protect procedures.

Kirsty Hunter, Chief Executive of ANGUSalive said: “We are absolutely delighted to be able to start reopening our doors once again and welcome residents back to our venues. We’ve been closed for over four months and although people have been keeping active via our new app or enjoying a good book through our digital library, we know that people can’t wait to return to our venues.

“It’s important to highlight that all our Covid-secure measures remain in place – including one-way systems, cleaning schedules and social distancing - so customers can be sure that they can get healthy, active and creative again with us safely.

“I know that our colleagues can’t wait to welcome people back through our doors once again and I hope residents of Angus are excited too.”

ANGUSalive hopes that indoor fitness classes and outdoor adult contact sports can resume from 17 May with the Learn to Swim programme restarting from 10 May, 2021.

Monikie, Crombie and Forfar Loch Country Parks are open and the programming team are looking at starting outdoor activities for all ages, including watersports and outdoor bootcamps, in the coming weeks.

ANGUSalive Museums and Galleries will reopen with a phased approach beginning with Arbroath Signal Tower Museum on 1 June, Forfar Meffan Museum & Art Gallery on 19 June, and Montrose Museum & Art Gallery on 26 June. The trust is still awaiting more clarification on reopening its theatres and venues but planning for live streaming shows and outdoor events is underway.
