Overgate, Dundee makes final preparations for reopening on Monday

Overgate, Dundee – the city’s flagship shopping centre - will reopen on Monday 26^th April at 9am.

The reopening of the doors to the leading shopping destination will mark what is sure to be a greatly welcomed moment for the people of Dundee and visitors to the city centre. The roadmap out of lockdown coincides with the start of what is being more widely anticipated as a nationwide ‘summer of shopping’, instigated by a swell of consumers who have missed the pleasure of the physical shopping experience.

A strong footfall of shoppers is anticipated for the reopening of Overgate with popular stores including Primark, Next, River Island, H&M, New Look, Schuh, Office and Superdry, as well as food and drink offerings including Frankie & Benny’s, Five Guys, Starbucks, Costa and Chopstix, all inviting visitors to step through their open doors for some long overdue retail therapy.

Ahead of reopening Overgate has introduced an extensive range of measures to keep staff and visitors safe. These include clear signage throughout the centre, a one-way footfall system and multiple hand sanitising stations including at each entry and exit points. A number of enhanced viricidal sanitising processes are in place with the cleaning frequency increased on all common touch-points such as door handles, escalator and stair handrails, public toilets, lift interiors and mall furniture. Inspections have also been carried out on the CCTV, alarm and public tannoy systems within the centre should social distancing announcements be required.

“Overgate is delighted to be reopening again on Monday. It has been a long four months for retailers, customers and staff but finally the moment has arrived where we can welcome visitors back to the centre.
