Summer fun with ANGUSalive Holiday Activities

Angus is alive with holiday activities for everyone to enjoy this summer.  

Whether you fancy active sporting pursuits on the water or land, pirate and nature ninja shenanigans or guided walks to take in the history of the county, ANGUSalive has something for all the family! 

Monikie Country Park will be offering an array of water sport activities including paddleboarding, kayaking, windsurfing, canoeing, stand up paddleboarding and dinghy sailing, to name but a few. Our Family Inclusive Bike Sessions also make a return to Monikie where all ages have the chance to cycle through nature. There are two-wheeled balance bikes, mountain bikes, a wheelchair bike, tandems, side by side, trikes, hand bikes and a recumbent. 

On land, our countryside spaces offer up conservation pursuits, mountain biking, orienteering and guided walks. 

Sports Centres will also be offering up plenty of activities to help children be healthy, active and creative this summer. The fun ‘multi-sport’ sessions offer various sports, including athletics, golf, basketball, netball, rounders, team games and more.  

Athletics, SFA Football Camp and Tri-Golf are also available as well as fun trampoline and gymnastics courses. 

To bring some culture into your staycation, guided walks around Kirriemuir, Forfar and Montrose are available for all ages. Find out more about the Wee Red Toon by exploring Kirriemuir and discover how the town developed, taking a close up look at some of the statues and monuments. Tour Forfar to discover the stories behind Forfar's statues and street names and find out how important the benefactor Peter Reid was in shaping the town. Wander the wynds and closes of Montrose to discover the stories behind the statues and buildings you walk past every day, as well as some stories about Montrose people from the past.  

In addition to the Kirriemuir guided walk, a free Remembering Old Kirriemuir session will be available in the Kirriemuir Dementia Garden for open-air reminiscence with a look at old photographs and remembering what the town was like in the past. 

Pirates are taking over the courtyard at Signal Tower Museum where children can hear some good old pirate yarns, sing songs about the sea, and then put their pirate skills to the test with a treasure hunt. Kids can also come along with their packed lunch to enjoy the Lighthouse Keepers Lunch story, play some games and other fun activities related to being a lighthouse keeper. 

Activities are tailored to suit all abilities, furthermore there are also activities and programmes for specific disability and inclusion groups including family inclusive bikes, archery and orienteering sessions as well as poetry and guided walks. If someone requires that bit of extra support, a buddy can be arranged to assist with this at no extra charge.
