Dundee early years providers providing childcare services to children aged 5 and under are being urged to register for the Scottish Milk and Healthy Snack Scheme.

They have until Wednesday June 30 to complete the initial application process through Dundee City Council’s website.

From 1 August 2021, the Scottish Milk and Healthy Snack Scheme will fund a daily portion of milk (or infant formula for babies) and a portion of fruit or vegetables for every child aged 5 and under who accesses an early years childcare setting registered with the Care Inspectorate, such as a nursery or childminder.

All settings must register through their local council. Dundee City Council’s initial registration process is open from Monday June 14 to Wednesday June 30.

Further information regarding how to register is set out here

Dundee draws skilled workers from a 60-minute catchment population of 640,000 and has a local population of over 140,000. The availability of a large pool of highly skilled labour is a key feature in the Dundee economy. Flexibility in the labour force is currently more prevalent in Dundee than in Scotland as a whole. All forms of labour market flexibility - part-time, temporary employment, self-employment and shift work - are widely operational within the city. Labour force stability in the city is excellent, enabling companies to plan with confidence. Labour turnover levels are less than 5% and absenteeism averages 2%.
