In a shortlist announced last week, the team of four have been recognised as one of the Most Enterprising Businesses and as a High Growth Business of the Year. A small, family-run business which won the inaugural GROW at Overgate entrepreneurship competition, and recently opened a new store in the Dundee shopping centre, is celebrating after being named Scotland’s Boutique Florist of the Year.

Florist, plant and gift specialist Olly Bobbins won over judges at The Prestige Awards, who deemed the company’s innovation, creativity and quality of products worthy of the top prize.

The business, which was founded in 2017 by owners Paul McFawns and Joe Rodger, expanded into a physical store in Overgate only last month. This followed the success of the GROW at Overgate competition which offered Olly Bobbins prime location retail space for twelve months free of charge.

Since opening the new store, which is proving a hugely popular customer destination for fresh floral arrangements, beautiful plants, and quirky gifts, Olly Bobbins’ order book has quadrupled.

In particular, Olly Bobbins’ handcrafted tartan roses gift range helped secure the award win due to its unusual and impressive product offering, and the commercial success it is generating at home and internationally. The tartan roses are available in a wide range of clan tartans and Harris Tweed, as well as in Olly Bobbins’ own exclusive ‘Memories of Scotland’ tartan which Paul and Joe created during lockdown, and which was officially registered with ‘The Scottish Register of Tartans’ (Ref #12848) in June 2020.

To coincide with Olly Bobbins’ award-winning celebrations, Paul and Joe have also announced the launch of the Olly Bobbins Flower Club and their Christmas Wreath Workshops in the Overgate store, giving floral-loving fans the opportunity to learn a new skill in-person each week until the end of September.
