Top Scottish building services and construction contractor, McGill has been recognised for its commitment to paying the Living Wage by being shortlisted as a finalist in the Outstanding Leadership category at the 2021 Living Wage Scotland awards.
The Living Wage Scotland awards recognise the companies and individuals across the country who are leading the drive for a fairer economy by paying above the government set minimum. McGill’s shortlisting as a finalist in the Outstanding Leadership category recognises the business as an employer who consistently demonstrates leadership through actions such as: working to encourage others to become accredited as Living Wage employers, speaking out publicly on the real Living Wage, and going above and beyond the scope of the accreditation licence criteria.
McGill, who made their commitment to pay the Living Wage by becoming accredited in 2019, only months after the business was rescued from administration by local entrepreneur Graeme Carling. Since then, McGill have continued to commit to pay the Living Wage and have featured regularly as a case study in promotional materials used by Living Wage Scotland.
Speaking of the shortlisting, McGill Managing Director Errol Lawrie commented; “I am proud to be an accredited Living Wage employer. As one of the largest employers in Tayside, McGill have a duty, not only to commit to pay the Living Wage, but to champion the efforts of Living Wage Scotland to bring more employers on board. We have a dedicated team who commit their efforts to the business, so it is only right that, as a minimum, they receive a fair wage.”
