Plea To Return Unused Equipment

Members of the public are being asked to look around their house, shed, garage for any unused medical equipment they have been given by the Dundee Health and Social Care Partnership that they no longer need.

The partnership is running an amnesty in bid to get walking frames, zimmers, mobility aids, walking sticks and toilet rails that are surplus to requirements.

A lot of equipment is only used for a short period of time to enable rehabilitation, but some patients and service users will forget to return them once they are no longer needed.

Chair of the Integration Joint Board of the Dundee Health and Social Care Partnership Ken Lynn said: “Each year thousands of pounds worth of valuable equipment is not returned to the partnership.

“We are already experiencing issues with supply as we head into winter and we are therefore urging the public to have a think and look around for any unused equipment they or a loved one may have and return it the partnership.

“The equipment is easily refurbished and cleaned to enable someone else to use them, even if you think it won’t be of any use, I would urge you to return it as we can refurbish it.

“Anyone can call our Equipment store number and we can arrange for someone to come and pick up any unused bits of equipment for free.”

The number is 01382 307630, operating 9-5, 5 days a week. Alternatively, members of the public can return any unused bits of equipment to the Dundee and Angus Equipment Store, Charles Bowman Avenue, Dundee DD4 9UB Monday – Friday 9am-5pm but please call first to ensure we are aware you will be arriving.
